Madeleine-Bleau Park

Sainte-Thérèse
2024

The City of Sainte-Thérèse enlisted Opaysage to enhance a new residential area by proposing a new public park design tailored to the needs of local residents and harmonizing with the existing topography, neighborhood architecture, and adjacent landscaping. The city sought to incorporate concepts related to water recovery, the planting of native vegetation, and the reduction of heat islands.

Opaysage's vision thus centered around an intergenerational design where both young and old could enjoy a refreshing oasis welcoming butterflies and pollinators at the heart of their new neighborhood. The park aims to encourage spontaneous gatherings with flexible furniture that adjusts to the moment and a playground promoting free and intuitive play. It is envisioned as a friendly and inviting space with vibrant colors that enhance the area and encourage residents to take ownership of the public space.

Proposed enhancements include: a shrub hedge creating a boundary with the busy street, a vegetated slope (with wildflower meadow and stabilizing shrubs), and psychomotor trails made of natural materials.
