Tournesol schoolyard
This project started with the determination of the school’s leadership team to diminish the prevalent asphalt surfaces and transform the schoolyard into verdant havens where students can play, hang out and benefit from the shade. From this initiative arises an inspiring collaboration between the school stakeholders and the Opaysage team.
Hence, the concept has been to create "vegetated bubbles" to allow the youth to explore and immerse themselves in these discovery spaces. A diverse array of approximately ten bubbles has been suggested throughout the courtyard, integrating native trees, plants, and natural materials. Some are more arboreal, while others take on the appearance of flower-filled meadows, beneficial for pollinators and hosting insect shelters. In addition to these bubbles, a psychomotor trail made of wooden logs and a dedicated area for sand play have been suggested, along with colorful ground markings delineating areas for ball games, all with the aim of making the space playful and suitable for its youthful clientele.
