Tours Frontenac grounds
This urban park project in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough reflects the Tours Frontenac administration’s desire to improve the green spaces around the complex and provide a varied program of activities for residents of all ages.
We drew our inspiration from a huge stone at the centre of the park that has been there since the towers were built. From this central element, we proposed a design of winding paths linking the park’s various spaces and the entrances to the complex. We embellished the greenspaces with a colourful array of plants, integrating various perennials and grasses. We also planted around fifteen trees throughout the site and left some grassless areas for planting native seeds, adding to the project’s environmental qualities.
Finally, we added urban furniture to the park to encourage gatherings and interactions between tenant families. Benches, swings, a playground, a splash pad and a pool liven up this one-of-a-kind space in the heart of Montreal.
